The Kaufmännische Schule Geislingen is a vocational school in the South-West of Germany. We offer different courses and types of schooling. We have one type of school (Wirtschaftsschule) that allows students to finish with a business oriented secondary level, two other types (Berufskolleg) of schools allow students after their exams to go and study at universities of applied science. We also offer a course that leads to the German A-levels (Wirtschaftsgymnasium). And of course, typical for Germany, we have students who come to our school on a part-time basis (Berufsschule).

In the German dual business education system, students in their first two to three years at work are in their companies for up to 4 days a week (depending on the type of job) and then get courses for the rest of the working week at a school. We are situated between the Stuttgart region and the city of Ulm in a very nice countryside and we are a multicultural school, not just the students – also on the teacher's side.

Ferdinand-von-Steinbeis-SchuleAt the Ferdinand-von-Steinbeis-Schule in Tuttlingen about 1500 students are being taught by 75 teachers near the Danube Sinkhole.

We have seven different kinds of schools that our students may choose from, depending on their former level of education. There is the possibility to do their A-levels (Technisches Gymnasium) and to do both of the other two possible final exams in Germany (Hauptschulabschluss and Mittlere Reife). Most of the part time students come from different fields of work to do the school part of their apprenticeship. The students come from the fields of mechanics, wood-work, electronics, construction and beauty-care (hairdressers). On top of that there is the possibility for people to return to school to get a higher education and to go studying, without having made their A-levels during their "first education".

Because of this diversity we need to have a lot of partners which we work closely together with. The county administration, various universities and companies, local and foreign, are only some of these.

It is very important for us to give the students the possibility to find their own way in life and we try to help them in finding out what they want to do and support these decisions. Nevertheless, we ask the students that decide to stay in school, to put all their effort into this education.
